Gay Activists Alliance “Zap” at the NYC Marriage Bureau, 1973
On June 4, 1971, the Gay Activists Alliance overtook the New York City Marriage License Bureau to protest against City Clerk Herman Katz, who had threatened legal action against the Church of the Beloved Disciple, which had been performing same-sex holy unions.
