Barbara Gittings & Kay Tobin Lahusen on how being gay was considered an illness

Barbara Gittings and Kay Tobin Lahusen were both members of the Daughters of Bilitis (D.O.B.), a lesbian activist organization founded in San Francisco in 1955. Gittings went on to organize the New York chapter of D.O.B. and edited its journal, The Ladder, while Lahusen worked as a photojournalist.
