Marchers on Christopher Street, 1979
Marchers during the 1979 Christopher Street Liberation Day March. The original march route traveled from Christopher Street up 6th Avenue, ending in Central Park’s Sheep Meadow. The route was meant to embody the rally cry, “Out of the closets and into the streets!” Photograph by Suzanne Poli.
