“The Morning of the Snake Pit” 1970

The raid on the Snake Pit on March 8, 1970, and the subsequent death of Diego Vinales, reignited anger from LGBTQ groups regarding police harassment. The incident helped mobilize the LGBTQ community to action leading up to the first Christopher Street Liberation Day March in June 1970. This article appeared in a 1970 issue of Gay Power.
